Adam, first off you'll love this drum if you get it!! they are going towards $200.00 and more on ebay so if you can get it for under $200.00 that would be a good price.Jumping2

How about with a messed up finish? Looks like someone tried to re paint the duco with a blue that is WAY too light on the top and bottom. Haven't seen it in person yet, but it sure doesnt look original in the pics. I have attached two pics.

The other issue is...does it look like the hoop on the bottom of the snare is bent out too far on the strainer side?

Considering stripping it down to the mahogany per KevinS' suggestion as they were only available in lacquer or mahogany. That would at least keep it original and I would assume that it would hold it's value. Just not sure about what to pay for this thing.

Now that there are some pics would you do me the favor of re-evaluating?

Thanks!

Adam, as a players drum I think this would be nice. These Slingerland drums sound great and are built well. I personally would not pay over $125 shipped. I'm not saying the drums not worth more but for me if they want to be paid then all original or notta. I'm more a collector however do have some not so perfect nor all original player drums. I just feel that once it's altered the price should be as well. If your buying for sound you will be impressed a lot with this snare. It will tune up quickly and stay there. One thing I love about these snares is the rim clips. Working with these feels a bit nostalgic, almost special. The condition on this one looks good. Bottom line, you like you buy.

I completely agree, if the drum was in good to very good condition and all original then the original quote i gave you would apply but not here yeah $125.00 you'll still love the way it sounds.

Does stripping this down to mahogany and clear coating it bring it's value up a little if I were to buy it or would that further devalue it? I know they came originally in lacquer or mahogany finish. If I am going to play this thing out I would want to get it looking nice. If it is devalued either way I would probably wrap it in some nice green sparkle I have laying around and play it or strip it down to the mahogany.

What do you guys think is a better idea? Mahogany, Green Sparkle, or leave it?

Thanks so much for all the help so far!

The green sparkle might make head fit an issue. Since it is already altered, stripping it won't be an issue. You could always have it redone in duco or black lacquer is very classy, goes with anything.

Yes, that's way low

Buck fifty to two seven five, depending on condition

When you are done with yours, it should be in that range somewhere

I got one for $105, but it had issues

I have a very, very nice one I gave $275 for ... posted the price here and was told by those in the know that it was a fair price for the snare. No steal, not a great price, but a fair price. Here's a pic.... it's just as nice inside as out.

Thanks for the more positive outlook Kevin!

I got my drum for $100 and I have put about $50 into the restore so far. Probably looking at $200 plus time all in by the time it is done. I think that is fair. Either way it sounds fantastic and I am going to play the heck out of it!
