Hello everyone!

Hello to fellow drum enthusiasts! I'm new here and this is my first post and from what I have seen, this is a great site!

My questions have to do with a Ludwig Supra that I will take possession of next week. It was made in 1968, Ludalloy shell, P-83 strainer with a round knob muffler. The shell has some minor pitting from what I can see in the photos on Ebay, where I got this drum. The seller made no bones about it having some pitting which is to be expected on this old a drum.

When I get it, I will disassemble the drum completely and clean everything up.

So I ask you Supra owners, is there any type of wax or something similar that I could apply to the chrome finish after cleaning to slow down the pitting and chipping of the chrome layer?

Look forward to learning a lot on here!

Hi Ddrumman,

I asked the same question a while back about my Supra, and it was suggested that a good guitar wax would leave a protective coating after polishing. Nobody ever posted after the suggestion was made to back it up, so I never tried it.

Dude! That Fitz stuff clones drums?! That's totally awsome.

I've recently silently monitered the threads pertaining to polishing chrome and removing rust. I've got a set of snare hardware that needs a deeeeeep cleaning due to rust and grime. I've heard a lot about the Fitz for finishing up the chrome. Sounds good.

How does it do on nickel?

Not to one up you bum, I've used Flitz, and found Blue Magic works and is cheaper and easier to find.

Does anyone care to address the Post polishing question posed by Ddrumman?

I'm still curious about preventative measures for the pitting/flaking issues.

Thanks for all the replies!

I'm not worried so much about cleaning and as for polish, I may try the spray stuff that Honda sells as it does a wonderful job on motorcycles and did a great job on my 20 year old Zildjian medium ride cymbal.

I just want something that will slow or prevent more flaking of the chrome finish.

There may not be anything.

Thanks again!

I don't think there is anything...as, for stopping it......don't get moisture on it after cleaning and it should stay the way it was after cleaning.
