Drumkit (custom Keller Shells)

Loading...

I am thinking of checking out this kit. Can anyone give me some feedback on the hardware used and the re-ring Keller shells. I want to offer $500.00 I am not trying to buy and sell because I am looking for a kit to gig with so I can leave my Ludwig's safe at home. What are the pro's and con's of custom kits?

Are these worth my offer or even the asking price?

Prolly worth 5 bills. Looks to be decent. I have not heard of Keller making 4 ply shells, altho, it could be custom ordered. Hardware is from where he said. Gibralter tom/floor tom mounts are their version of the older Tama Imperial/Super stars. Good mounts using eyebolts to clamp the L-arms. I would check the kit over edges, shells, etc. At the minimum, it is at least equivalent to a mid level kit. It would all depend on the condition of the shells, workmanship, etc. I'd say go look at them anyway...

Keller makes the vintage shells w/reinforcing rings, but stock are 6ply. They can be custom ordered to get that "60's sound", so perhaps he ordered them that way. Looks good for $500.

Love the configuration. 2 up 2 down is so cool, especially with the rack toms on a stand. Looks like a deal to me.

Keller is making 4 ply shells, they are hard to come by, but they are out there. Those are amazing looking, and I will bet they sound fantastic as well. I am looking into some of the 4 ply shells. I want to build a 14x14 floor tom to go with my old MIJ WMP kit for a one up two down config, unless someone has a WMP 12" tom they would like to donate to my poor, tired set of misfits....

How bad are the shells, Mike? Before you toss them, would you shoot me some pix? If there is a 14 floor tom, I want it no matter the condtion. As a matter of fact, if you any MIJ 14 floor toms, let me know. Also, if the floor tom is 14 and you still have that WMP wrap from the 20" bass, I am still interested in it. I want the 14 for my kit of MIJ WMP

Ok guys,

I am going to look at them this weekend. I emailed the guy asking how he knows they are Keller shells. He replied saying he has no proof but that was what he was told when he bought them from a friend.

My question is, how can I determine when I go to look at these, that they are in fact Keller shells?

Are there any signs that will definetely give it away?

Can the ply's be counted to verify that they are 4 ply.

They are maple shells so should I expect the interior (first layer) to be maple?

Does anyone have photo's of the the inside of these drums?

And last, how many re-rings should I see per drum?
