First of all....its not a 1962....it has a serial number, and its much later than 1964, the year they started using serial numbers. I can't read the serial number itself, but going by the number of digits, I'd say its somewhere between 1966 and 1969. They made thousands of these. They guy is waaay off. Its about a $100 drum all day long.

My "eye" certainly isn't the sharpest but the badge appears to have a six-digit serial number beginning with a "7".

If this is true, it would date the drum sometime in 1969.

That is what I was thinking. I emailed the seller to fill him in on the facts and offered to have him email me back with the serial number so I can help provide him with the true production year. If he has a negative response, I will post my own craigslist ad to make sure nobody gets suckered into buying a $400 snare that is worth $100 at best. I did an eBay search for them and they can be had very cheap. Thanks for your help guys, I knew his information was WAY off base.

I think the guy may have based his information off this auction on eBay because it has the limited number of 400 units in the description.

I wouldn't like to have that drum, but the stand is cool. What I gig with and every time I see one I grab it.

The seller of this acro must have taken lessons from the seller of this supra.
