"Vintage Drum Guru" costs $100....cash.

Then there's "Drum Philosopher" for $500....

And, of course..."Vintage Drum Deity"...for $1000....

"Friggin Pain in the Ass "...is ...'a gratis', of course. You really gotta work it to get that one, though.....:p

Your tom mount system can take a Gibraltar-type piece of add'l hardware very easily...just clamps to the vertical tube coming out of the bass drum. You can hand the second rack tom from that, then.

Very pretty kit. What are the cymbals ?

Welcome! That setup looks perfect, nice drums. I think I remember reading a quote from Buddy Rich about playing anything more than a four piece, meaning that you should be able to make those four drums sound just as good as a bigger kit. Something lke that, its been awhile.

I think, really, some folks just like doing the tom-fills with 2 up, one down...ergonomically it works more easily for them. I am so used to having my ride cymbal low and right off of the bass drum, that when I play a 5-pc. kit it really throws me having that second rack tom right there.

Heck...some players make a minimal kit with just bass-single tom-snare sound fantastic. It's all personal preference.

I do agree, however....I think it's good for the player to be able to work a 1-up, 1-down kit comfortably.....

So you actually pay money for it? Do you get something in return for it?

I play with Zildjian cymbals.

I'm working on doing fills with one tom up. It's actually starting to get really really comfortable for me.

Welcome! Glad to have you with us. And while I'm at it, welcome to the craft of drumming. It's a lifelong passion -- keep at it and it will reward you many times over. Have you got a teacher?

That's a GORGEOUS kit you've got there. I've always wanted one of the rosewood Gretsch kits from the 80s. They're beautiful and quite valuable -- take good care of it.

As for Jaye's crack about paying for the status changes: he's kidding you. You'll get used to the sense of humour around here soon enough.

Yes I do have a teacher. He is really good at drumming. He can play all styles too. And thank you it is a great kit. Believe it or not I got it from a friend for FREE!!! Eye Ball Unfortunately he didn't take good care of it CryBaby so there is some minor damage. Nothing too serious though. It's mostly the trimming of the bass. You really have to look to see it.

And haha I thought he was serious about paying. I was thinking of the people I saw with really high "ranks" like the guru and thought "why would spend so much for a title like that" hahah Laughing H
