I will try to post pictures but my question is, is there any drum companies anywhere that sells OBP wrap? If the pictures come thru you should see my very first snare I owned(I,ll let you guess ) that I wrapped with the "Ringo" wrap from a well known wrap company and and it is nowhere close to OBP wrap. I have also included some pictures of my set of Ludwigs I am trying to match.

[COLOR="DimGray"]The prob here is - there are 2 types of Black Oyster Pearl wrap (Precisondrum.com sells 'em both - the one you'd want would be the "vintage" style - or maybe they call it '60-'s style). Only thing is- pics show that your wrap has faded over time so a new 'vintage' style wrap will not quite match that in hue - but it will in pattern Help2[/COLOR]
Jaye, thanks for your reply. The temporary wrap on the snare was not ordered from Percison Drum, I,ll have to check them out. You are probably right about my 68-69 OBPs. I bought them in 1970 and they came with a supraphonic snare. About two years into my giggin years I bought some fibre? hardcases from a road manager of another group and used them for the Ludwigs. I always cleaned and polished them about every 2 or 3 months while playing. In 1980 I put the drums (in their cases) in the back of my closet and a couple years ago I brought them out so my son could use the cases for his drums. They have never been restored, just polished, so the question is should I restore them or sell them. I don't know how many or even if any at all were produced but I have a line on a mid 60s ludwig kit in Oyster Pink Pearls and if the line proves legit I may buy them. TOM

I totally agree with Jaye's comments. I've purchased the OBP wrap from Precision Drum and can assure you that theirs is the closest match to the original 60s OBP that I've found. It is, however, slightly darker in appearance.
In regard to restoring or selling your kit, from what I've seen in the pics you posted I'd definitely vote to restore. It doesn't appear that there are any extra holes in any of the shells nor any modifications made to the kit. Original OBP 60s kits are highly desired due to the "Ringo effect." I'd simply slap some Mequiars on the shells or give them a thorough Novus treatment and I'm sure that you'll be amazed at the results. Great looking kit!Cool1

Oldschool & poppy 79424: Thanks for your opinion & interest in the Ludwig OBPs. Right now I am trying to buy another Ludwig Classic Kit that I have to travel to do a hands on look at. If I buy them it will be expensive.
My OBPs are all original( bought in 1970) with no holes or extra additions other than a little fade, one proper stainless steel replaced nut,washer & carriage bolt for the base drum Tom holder and one newer Tom holder mount that had loosened over time. Other than that they are original with the original drum keys. My son is on the road using my Supraphonic snare that came with this kit. The kit was bought from a music company off the shelf. I had to order the Supraphonic and it is a pointy Blue/Olive 1970. All the drums have ID #numbers that correspond to the year 1969 except for the 16" floor tom that indicates the year 1968 ( weird but true ). I have the original bill of sale and the original order and receipt for the snare drum. They have not been restored, unless per my thinking, cleaning and polishing = restoration.
I am looking for a Ludwig snare drum (wooden and #s for the correct year) that I can rewrap with OBP wrap to match. I could invest in a snare that matches the kit but I don't want to pay the asking prices for it.
The reason I may sell the OBPs is I don't know how much the other Ludwig Classic Kit may cost. It may be some time before I decide as I am treading litely while inquiring about this other kit.
BTW what is the Novus treatment? TOM
