I dont see anything that looks like it would give you any problems. I think a light sanding would remove most of the glue and paint. The glue might come off if you just rub your finger over it a few times.

Just a light sanding and that should be good. If you have any seperation of the shelles or re-rings coming apart, they should be reglued before sanding. Using woodglue will not be very effective. It may hold for awhile, but it will give way soon enough. A small amount of epoxy, worked into the crack with a putty knife will get the job done, and then clamp for 30 minutes to an hour.

Thanks again for the advice. Looking at them now, I can see what you mean. I'm going to try to clean all of the gunk off them first and get the edges and the shells looking decent and ready for wrap. Any good places to get hardware, aside from Eb*y?
