You could run a completed listing search on Ebay to get a feel of what the market at large is saying.

Any kit made of, or including birch in the shells is worth $150.00. Pics are needed, but I think you probably did quite well.

I snagged a Catalina Club Mod kit, minus the snare for around $279.00 and feel like I got a deal. They are NOT birch shells. Nice kit, but you did better :)

I would put the kit at about 250-300 if it's in great shape. I purchased a couple of these new in the 400 range a couple of years ago.

Hi... I just recently purchase a Gretsch Catalina Maple 6 pc after I did some extensive internet searchings for others opinions, etc. I must say that while I think they are a good buy for the money (about $799.00), the thin maple shells are not "working" for my ears. I've changed out the cheap clear factory heads for coated remo Ambassadors, attempted various manipulations of the reso heads and such. The toms have "flattened out" as to sound and projection. After playing drums for some 40 years and having owned a myriad of sets of many makes and models, the sound of the drums will only take me so far. So essentially, i'm not happy. I just ordered up a set of Gretsch USA Customs from the factory, so... anybody want these? :>)

Thats funny-I had the exact same issue with the Catalina Maple set I bought-flat/odd tone, even with new heads. So I sold them for what I bought them for before they got scratched up.I like to tune my drums low,and they did not like it at all.I'm thinking sharp edges and low tuning doesn't work-It does work on the 88 Tama Rockstars I'm playing now.
