Rogers drum set valuation request

Loading...

Hi,

I am new to the forum.

I was wondering approximately what this drum set (see attached images and description below) is worth. My parents bought the drum set used for my brother close to 20 years ago. All I know is they are a Rogers Holiday set.

1. Drum Shell Material -- Wood

2. Drum Finish -- Sparkling Blue Pearl

3. Drum Badge -- Rogers - Regular OH script logo

3. Drum Dimensions -- Depth x Width

Bass: 20.5" x 16"

Floor tom: 16.5" x 17"

Toms 1 and 2: 12.5" x 9.25"

Snare: 14.5" x 5.75"

4. Interior Finish -- Gray Paint

5. Hardware Configuration -- See attached images. Snare - Baseball Bat Muffler

6. Strainer Type -- not sure

7. Any defects, extra holes, finish problems, etc.

The outside blue sparkle finish is decent, although the metal fixtures could use some buffing - a few have some slight rust.

All drums except the snare have handwritten marker that says "41564 HL", as well as a Rogers sticker with what appears to be a serial number (Bass: #31118, Tom 1: #4912, Tom 2: #30427, Floor Tom: #28176).

Thanks for your help!

David

First off, nice kit. Your drumset is what I believe to be the model called "Top Hat" With the lugs and that type of tom mount, I'd put that in the '62-'64 range. Those lugs are bread and butter type lugs, very fragile and apt to cracking. No cracking on the lugs is almost hard to find.

Original hardware from what I can see, cymbals are probably worth something too, engraved stamps help to determine age.

Snare drum is around 1964 era too, it is a Ludwig Super Sensitive.

If it has been in Colorado (assuming that's where you live by your name) the whole time. That's a great climate for drums, as long as they didn't stay in the garage in the cold winter.

As far as the marker thing goes on all the drum. Probably the date bought and the original owner's initials, from all the ages approximated on the drums.

As the kit stands from the pics I see, as a whole $1500 and up easily. More money if you separate the snare from the kit and the cymbals individually. Insurance value if you were to buy individually to replace, $3000-$3500

If you are to sell it, give me a crack at it, I'd love to have that in my house.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

The snare is an older Ludwig Supraphonic, no ? That's worth about $300 alone.

The rest of kit including original Rogers hardware, but not including cymbals, is worth probably $9000-1200.

So Vintagemore is about right there on valuation. He is also correct...it would be appraised at about twice that value, and also would be tagged about twice that value if being sold in a vintage drum shop. But the true market value is really about the $1500 range.

Cymbals can add significantly to that if they are something decent. Even if they are just a set of old A's, add another $300+ easy.

(....can't tell from pic...but are those B&B lugs ? if they are, you have to check for small cracks in the lugs. If there aren't any or many cracks, I'd suggest you de-tension the heads everywhere.... ASAP.)
