I thought it looked lie Black Panther, too. It looks like he took some carriage bolts and filled in the bottom lug holes with them. If so, that would be easy to restore. The red paint could probably be stripped off.

As long as he didn't drive the squared keyway of the carriage bolts into the wood to keep them from rattling. Then those shells would have huge holes for the bottom lugs and I don't know what impact that has on tuning or anything like that but I am guessing oversized lug holes are a bad thing...
