Yeah, that is how i felt about the 2002 crashes as opposed to the mediums, the mediums are more of a crystal clean sound, sorry i never have played the Giant beats, i only have old 2002's and 602's love both of them, so one else will have to chime on to answer the difference about the GB'S and 2002's

Thanks again vintagemore2000. I have another question I hope you can answer. When Paiste puts MEDIUM on their cymbals are they refering to the weight or sound? I mean are the cymbals lighter or heavier than a standard crash etc.

Yes the mediums are a little thicker and little heavier, not by a lot though, but the two flavors sound totally different crash and medium if you go towards the mediums give the 16" a try

I started as a Zildjian guy and still am for other kits, but I got bit by the Black Label 2002 bug a few years back. Currently I have this crash I bought, but mine was cracked, repaired, cracked larger, etc. I bought it to replace what I already liked, just wish I didn't have to go that high...
Here's what 2002 BL's I currently have:
2 sets of 14" Sound Edge, 1-22" Ride, 1-20" Ride, 1-18" Ride, 1-18" Medium, 1-18" Crash (soon to be 2, ;)), 1-16" Crash
On the lookout for the elusive 20" Medium.......and a 16"crash with stronger labels...
