Is it me or is everyone in the band but the bass player and Gadd a bit stiff sounding? The song just doesn't groove like it should.....

Anyway, the drum tuning....classic open jazz tuning. :D

Wow - that was great!

I have a few friends that I've known since we were kids. I played music with them 40 years ago and I swear that you get more chops but your basic music thing doesn't change a whole lot from when you were a kid. To me, Steve sounds pretty much he same there, yeah a tadd stiff and on an arrangement that should be in Austin Powers next movie, but he still has that marvelous identity.

Loved his playing on Leo Sayer's "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing". He was on Bette Midler's "The Divine Ms. M" with Barry Manilow as musical director.

Ummm, right. 'Cause... there... a MILITARY BAND!

Shouldn't matter that they are a military band. I played in both a military ceremony band and a military rock band in Northern California. In Miami, the Navy has a Steel Drum band that absolutely slams. I'm not sure what you're inferring here, but military bands can seriously groove. Maybe your experience differs from mine, and if that's the case, I can understand your statement. But, from my life path, military bands are a kick. Research some of the musicians who played in these bands throughout the years. Pretty mind blowing stuff.

Granted, this particular video performance is stiff, but it's not attributed to the mere fact they are wearing our countries uniform.

There was no problem with that band... good players. The chart was a dog that's all.

I thought the guitar player sounded good, the energy level went up as soon as he started his solo.

Anybody know what year that was? Steve was born in '45... I'm thinking '68-69?
