Best Spurs for a 20 Club Date

Loading...

From mcjnic

I have a 20 inch Luddy Club Date bass and I'm debating on the spurs. I tried the wings and didn't like them. Because of the Club Date lug positioning, it made the wings too short for the bass and they barely touched the ground. I'm open to suggestions. I've got a set of the thin curved spurs but am not sure if they are long enough to be positioned correctly. I would have to drill in order to find out....not that brave. I checked out the Danmar bass hoop clip mounts, but they seem like they might line up with the lugs/t's. They don't adjust. I honestly don't know which way to proceed. I'm considering Rogers swivo, but that would require some serious drilling...ouch. Please, help a geek. Does anyone have an idea or a set of spurs that might work? Have any of you tried the curved Luddy thin spurs with a Club Date? If those work, I'm home free. Let me know what you think.

WHAT YEAR ARE THE DRUMS, CAN YOU POST A PIC, I HAVE A COUPLE SET OF SPURS FOR CLUB DATE THAT WILL WORK. MARK

These are some pics of the bass that I had already taken. I selected a couple of angles so you can see the spurs. Note how little they flair out due to the mount positioning. That's what I'm up against. They barely touch.

THAT IS THE EXACT MOUNT I HAVE ON A SET OF WFL CLUD DATES AND THEY WORK PERFECTLY THE DANMAR LEGS ARE NOT THE SAME LENGTH THEN, YOU NEED A SET OF LUDWIG LEGS, I DON'T HAVE ANY LEGS SORRY, BUT THAT WILL GET YOU GOING, THEY WILL PUT YOUR BASS DRUM WHERE IT NEEDS TO SIT

I have Luddy legs and these are the same exact size. I've tried both. The pics are the Danmar legs. These were drilled by another and they were drilled a bit high. I'm trying to find the 'fix' for this. I can either move the mounts to another spot, try a different mounting system, or beat the snot out of these. That's kinda where I'm leaning.

There is a set of BD spurs that comes with the Pearl Jungle Jig that might do the trick. About $30. They would fit into your Ludwig mounts.

GOT IT!!!

I brought it out for my wife to look at. We puzzled over it for about five minutes. I kept saying that the wings kick the curved spur out too far. She said, "turn it over".

If it were anyone else, I would have looked silly kissing them full in the mouth for solving this. What a girl.

Because the wing is pointed down, it kicks the curved spur down towards the floor and towards the bass now. Unreal. So sweet. So sweet.

So, I'll drill the small hole for the curved spur and we should be done. I'll post the final results.
