what do I own

Loading...

just picked up a set of old Ludwig drums. From what I have found it is from 1976. Serial number for one of the toms is 1232894.

bass drum is 14X22 10 lugs

tom is 9X13 6 lug

I need to measure the floor tom but it is not at my home.

They have the oyster blue 8024

The inside of the drums have a grey finish and have reinforcement.

any info on these drums would be helpful

What size should the missing tom be?

Where can I get a replacement bass drum hoop and tension rods for the bass drum?

Niiiice B/O badge set in a very desirable finish ! Those were nice shells, the re-ringed granitones. Good score !

The FT will likely be 16x16, I'd think.

When you say "missing tom"...whatd'ya mean ? Do you think it had two rack toms at one point ? If so, then the other would likely have been an 8x12. The problem becomes, matching up the wrap ~ you can find a 12" Luddy shell or full tom of that era relatively easily...but it's not a commonly-available wrap style/color for a rewrap candidate. Or.... you can hunt for a Luddy tom already in that color ~ & that will be a very tall order, if not impossible.

Bass drum hoops can be had at drummaker.com or aitwood.com

If you wanna have original Ludwig t-rods for the bass drum, either eBay or post a "wanted" ad here. I am not sure you can get new replacements....

If you just want a style which looks "close enough", I believe drummaker.com sells some. Not a perfect match, but appropriate enough....

Post some pics !

what are the drums made of? Are they a maple shell? I do not have the other mounted tom. It was not with the kit. There should be one as the tom mount is for two toms.

Yes - maple. As l mentioned it's gonna be hecka hard to find a matching 12 for this set - you may just wanna move the 13 to the left side and play it as a 3-pc set. The only other alternative to the two l noted above would be to send the 13 to that guy who digitally matches old wraps and creates new repros. He gets 'em close, but not a perfect match - but close enuff. Can't remember the name of his biz though.

yes I know but i also mentioned the finish I have is the oyster blue.

On the bass drum there are holes to mount what appears to be mounts for two cymbal mounts. Did these drums come this way from the factory? I have seen pics of drums like this but I am not sure if they were added or not.

If so where can I find these mounts. Are they the same as the mounts for floor tom legs?
