Vintage Pearl Phenolic Shell Drums: Need Info

Loading...

I found a nice vintage set of Pearl President Phenolic shell drums up in New England, but it comes with a 20" bass drum, and I prefer 22" or 24" bass drums. The seller told me it has a lot of low end thump, but that's debatable, of course. I have no experience with Phenolic shell drums.

Can anyone fill me in the way these drums sound?

They'll be a really cool set. But I wouldn't expect a magical low end thump, that's not what was important in music back then. The drumheads will define that for you.
