If you look closely you can see the rear edge showing on the left, but only the front on the right. This is as perfect an edge on view as possible, so what you're actually seeing here is the slight amount of "warp factor" that's present. The profile looks about average to me. What do you think?

Beautiful cymbal! I've got a 22" from around the same period Bill. I need a larger scale, but this one is faintly ink stamped Medium Thin - Be Bop and is quite flexible. Are you familiar with that ink stamp? Take Care! Coffee Break2

The ink stamp actually reads MEDIUM FAST BE BOP

Yes I am familiar with that. Somebody once said that they had a 22" from that same period with a weight around 2700 grams and it was stamped "thin".

I think what they did back then and may still do today is that they actually picked the weight designations based on how the cymbal played to the tester's ear, rather than the actual weight itself.

Right on! Thanks Bill I must get a larger scale right away. I've been using my Wife's kitchen scale which is only good to 2,000g. What are you guy's using?

Bill, The ink stamp on my 22" actually reads Medium Fast BeBop. The young girl at the post office was cool enough to weigh it at 2,503. What would you recommend for a scale Dr.? Thanks Again! Bowing

I bought mine online and I'm very happy with it and have been using it for a long time.

The brand name is "My Weigh".

2503grams is a nice weight for one of those. Most 22's of that period were in the 2700 gram range. And mine actually has some edge wobble to it, which surprised me a little.

Thanks again Bill. I ordered a My Weigh KD8000, I found online. It looks great. A little overkill but that's OK too. I'll compare the weights with the post office.Cool Dude

Behold....the Avedis "True Grail":21" type II Large Stamp. 2450 grams. They don't make them like this anymore that's for sure.CLICK ON THIS:21" Avedis Large Stamp

Sounds vaguely similar to the 20" Large Stamp I bought from you several months ago, but as good as that one was, this one really sounds special!

Mark:

Yes I agree. They're both A-1 cymbals. And both very close in vintage too. I've found that I prefer the first 2 editions of the large stamps better than the block letter type that most drummers are familiar with.
