I was leafing through Facebook Marketplace last night and came across this four piece Tempo set in aqua blue glass glitter (actually the floor tom is a Zim-Gar, but it matches nicely), plus a couple of pieces of hardware, a nice Ludwig pedal, and some crappy Japanese cymbals that I will sell. All for $100.
The biggest plus though, is the set came with the exact rack tom holder I need to complete my Drum Mate set. It fits perfectly.
What are my plans? Take them apart, clean everything thoroughly, replace snare wires and some rubber feet, change heads as needed, and maybe put them up for sale. That is, after I've played a gig with them first to hear how they perform.
UPDATE: I took the snare apart and cleaned everything. The shell is luan, of course, but the drum cleaned up nicely and the glass glitter really pops now. I have decided to keep most of the cymbals. The top 14" hi-hat cymbal was broken, so I told the seller to toss it out, but the bottom cymbal is an old Zanchi that I started using as a top hi-hat, and it sounds good. The 20" ride of indeterminate origin, sounds dark and trashy, and might be good for a specialized application. The 16" crash is junk; that I tossed in the trash. I have a feeling that once I get these up to speed, I may keep them. Just what I need, right?
