The depth of those shells is all over the map. Some are 5 1/2". Some are 5 3/8". Some are 5 1/4". Some are 5"

It's not just the depth that makes it Ringo spec.

It has to have the strainer with the badge on the panel directly to the left and the baseball bat muffler to the panel directly to the left of the badge.

Ringo's also has the narrow and deep snare beds and of course no serial number on the badge. They moved to the very wide and shallow snare beds in '64. I have a '64 jazz fest, not in OBP, that is 5 1/2" deep but it has the wide beds and doesn't have the badge and muffler placed in the right places to be Ringo spec, short of the finish. It also has a serial number.

My point is that they were making 5 1/2" depth Jazz Fests after '63. At least for a while.

Nothing recut on the shell.

It's a fat Jazz Festival shell, not quite big enough for Super Classic size so it must have been in the Jazz Fest pile I guess?

I have one. I think mine is a 66 so it lacks the crucial Ringo details. I hunted for one I could afford for 20 years and was always a day late or a dollar short when one would pop up. Finally bit the bullet and bought one from a friend who had three of them and was willing to let one go (although not for cheap). I also have a 60s Pioneer in original OBP (the poor man's Ringo snare).

I have three snares in the modern version of the 60s OBP, One was a reissue from Ludwig a few years back and another is a drum I rewrapped myself. The most recent is one of the more recent Ludwig re-issues that has all the right details. I really lucked out on that one, getting one with a very accurate piece of wrap on it (some of them were not a great match to the original stuff...it's the luck of the draw). The last time I took out one of my OBP sets I used the new drum and left the more valuable original safely at home.

here's the newest and the oldest

I wish. Though one could have any different kinds of OBP snares, right? Ringo played a few different kinds 1963-1970?

Ringo used his first Jazz Fest throughout his time with the Beatles. He did get a second jazzfest with one of his other OBP kits but stuck with number one the whole time. Paul used Jazz Fest number 2 when he borrowed Ringo's first OBP Downbeat kit along with the 14" floor tom from Downbeat kit number 2. There are no pictures of Ringo using any snare other than number 1.
