Too Bad Not to Need Another Kit

Loading...

This kit popped up on Reverb this morning not too far from me in Natick, MA. My son probably could have swung by this week to get it and hold it for me. It would not be too far off course on his way from work in nearby Canton.

I have been thinking for some time that I'd like a satin flame set. Probably Slingy or Gretsch. But I have dutifully resisted because the last thing I need is another drum set. So thinking and acting have been divorced on the topic. But a Rogers kit that must have been refinished a long time ago (looks like the legit satin flame from way back) would be easily as good as a Slingy or Gretsch. Alas, even though just $880 with a snare, I pass for the most reasonable reason: I just don't need another kit.

I am consoled by a similar kit, even though it is not satin flame.

The Blue Onyx set is nicer. Maybe it's the quality of the photo, but that satin flame set looks a bit tired.

Seems like I recall seeing that rewrapped swirl kit on a MGR/GC site within the last couple of months? Nothing stands out to me more than a non-Rogers finish on a Rogers kit! Other than that, a nice kit, even with the double 12s, always makes it a challenge to move.

The only thing I really need to find is the one, unknown Billy Gladstone snare drum, in perfect shape...

...and the money to buy it!

No more kits, though....

...unless Carl Palmer's stainless steel kit......oh never mind!

I hear you, but then you have to figure out how to use that 3-way key.

Dan!

Now, that's just a cool Rogers "Top Hat" set! Yes, the Green Satin Flame/Aquamarine Satin Flame looks 60's to early 70's period correct! While Rogers never offered satin flame wraps, I'd still take this set and leave it as-is!

Your Blue Onyx set is fantastic!
