Walk into music go round and I see a “No name vintage kit” $149.99. rims mounts, pearl spurs, and Tom arms. Looks like a Gretsch. Diamond floortom leg brackets, die cast hoops, 5 lug 12” tom 14x14 floortom, 14x20 bass drum and a bonus 10” concert tom.
I immediately noticed the concert tom was a Yamaha by the lugs and diagonal cuts in the plys.
Looks like they put filler in the tone control holes top and bottom on the Toms, and on the Pratt bass muffle holes.
Looks like it was originally a consolette, with a Diamond plate on the tom, telescoping spurs on the bass (that they didn’t bother filling) and a bass mount cymbal holder.
I can even see what looks like the holes where the tack held on the round badges, with a breather hole in the bass drum.
Bearing edges are the usual Gretsch backward type on the Tom’s but not the bass drum. Looks like 6 plys. And a really bad fade on what may have been a rosewood stain. Heads fit too tight to have been a wrap that was removed and refinished.
What’s really throwing me is the clear interiors.
Any ideas on what era this set is from?
