White Marine Pearl NEVER "yellows".
White Marine Pearl ALWAYS "mellows."
A vintage "mellowed" WMP kit is one of the classiest looking ones around.
Keep yours as is!

Do you Fella's cover your white Pearl drums in a sun filled room? Or do you not worry about it so much. My '59s now have a very light mint tint, and I now cover them. Thanks
I agree leave em I have had alot of WMP Rogers drums and the wrap made before 1971 seems to fade the most the wrap used on fullerton drums seems to fade the least.. i agree also keep them out of the sun as much as possible and keep them clean and polished that helps the most in keeping smoke or other air born particles from adhereing to the finish..
New guy here but another vote to leave them as is. I call it "patina" and love the aged look of old WMP finish sets. It's just classic. Really nice set.
Yes, I cover them up, even though I doubt mine can get any more yellowed?
BTW, I changed my forum handle over to EricP from Zerek. :)
PS - I have not touched the wrap with anything yet, only changed
all the heads. One dumb thing I did was move the original calf bass drum
beater over to the front and cut a 6'' hole to adjust any dampening.
I say LEAVE IT!
I have a 1970 Ludwig "silver sparkle" (12x16x22) that has a greenish fade to it. When I first got them I wanted to restore the finish, but now i like the fact that my vintage kit looks like a vintage kit. It's very easy to distinguish my drums form others!
Only downside...... It's difficult to impossible to find add on drums that match.
I agree, leave em yellow. I actually want a new white pearl finished snare drum to go yellow.

It won't happen.....the material that its made out of is pvc, the vintage stuff is a cellulose based pyrolin, as stated about a page ago. The only way to get a new white pearl to go yellow is to re-wrap it in the pre-aged antique white pearl. PVC will not age like pyrolin will. Apples to oranges my friend......
