Interesting how that works!-Mark

'Interesting' was not the first word that came to mind the first time I encountered a "buyer's premium". (LOL)

Thanks for that info. Guess I was just too lazy to look at the catalogs!!!-Mark

I was also surprised to see Sparkling Pink available that late. The Dr. called it too. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/article_4_finishes14.htm

Buyer's premium is standard practice for auction services. They need to make their money too.

The drum is still at $170 right now. I'll be watching. If I won it, I'd resell, or try to find a pink rack tom and bass drum.

The drum went to the best home possible. It will complete for all intents and purposes (with some fading expected) an early sixties 3-pc kit 20"12"w one piece Radio King snare drum, that were all very well cared for, and protected over the decades from any fading. The owner of which, is the nicest and most generous guy you could ever meet. He waited six years for that drum to show up. And the longest part of the whole wait, was every single minute of the last eight days. Congrats to my pal and fellow V.D.F. member

It sold for $183. I thought it would have gone for much more. Guess not.

Kenwood, what is the actual size of this FT?

I'm amazed it sold for so little. I was thinking $500-600. It's such a rare finish, but after all, it's pink, and pink drums, even if they are rare, are not everyone's first choice of sparkle finish. Personally, I'd love to score a pink sparkle Slingerland set.

Also, considering that people want $750-800 for a Burgundy Sparkle 16" Ludwig floor tom these days, $183 is a steal. I'm glad it went to someone who really wanted it.

Hello slingerfan, the drum is a 16" Ideally Rich was hoping for a 14" but over the six long years no pink sparklers in any size materialized so this 16" will still be a suitable addition to his other drums.

Bob I am so glad too. Rich has passed along a ton of gear to me, he has found super deals for me online went and picked the deals up for me, paid for them and stored them until I made it by his area. I could fill a room with project kits, orphans, and assorted hardware he has just passed on to me. I have also purchased four or five beautiful kits from him for literally his own cost. Good Karma was on his side with winning this floor tom auction. And winning it for such a good price was just more of the same.
