Yes, you stated your thoughts, but in a way that served little purpose other than to rub the OP's nose in HIS own sale. Are they your drums John? Well are they? That's why your post was removed. You could have gotten the same thoughts across in a much less snarky and condescending way. THAT is why your post was removed. Not "too strong words for little ears to hear" .. rather .. the wrong words. This is the FOR SALE category, and the seller has every right to sell, ask, part out,. or whatever they want with THEIR drums. If after all that, one still feels the need to comment in a condescending or incendiary way ... send the OP a PM.

Your price for shipping and boxes seems high to me.

The U-Haul "microwave/television" double-walled box easily accommodates a 20" or 22' bass drum with bubble wrap. I've shipped and received several bass drums packed this way. As a matter of fact, in some drum trades, I have shipped my bass drum to a another person. That person used the same box and bubble wrap to send me his bass drum. There is also space to include a tom mount, bass drum spurs, and floor tom legs in the corners of the box. You can also nest other drums with depths of no more than 14" inside of the bass drum shell. Just make sure to cushion the smaller drums from banging around inside the bass drum shell. Some shippers base their charges on the dimensions of the box. This size carton is economical if that term makes sense anymore. A typical four piece drum set can usually be shipped in one of these boxes and a second box such as a double-walled dish pack that can often be shortened to accommodate the rest of the drum set. Lastly, shipping by Greyhound bus--not trucking--is a much more reasonable method that usually gets from one place to another sooner than by typical ground freight. I have sent and received drums at small town bus depots that do not necessitate driving to the typical inner-city or downtown locations.

Anyway, OP, the bass drums look really nice and if yo want to sell them, then I'd think you would have no problem regardless of which route you choose to take. It's always a gamble to try and gauge who is looking at Ebay and how hungry they are for what you have for sale.

I think it would be a shame to part them out, but that is probably where you would make the most money for them. On the other hand, you'd have to take them apart and package up the individual parts and make several trips to the post office over a longer period of time.

Maybe Steve Maxwell at Maxwell Vintage and Custom Drums can help you with selling them.

You need to check your threads; this is NOT the For Sale section. Op was asking for ADVICE, and it was delivered, although now no one can see what was said. Op seems fixated on maximizing profit above all else, nothing wrong with that, and I provided the exact method to do just that, with what little left he had of a pristine rare kit.

Incendiary? Sure, I suggested a fire to culminate the carnage. Snarky and condescending? That's your opinion, I disagree.

On the category miss ... mea culpa! You know, I have been here in this capacity for 17 years! now, and have never missed a category like this .. and .. I know how it happened: There have been a rash of FOR SALE threads/posts/discussions lately that have gone south in an ugly way .. plus .. I was away from my PC and on my iPhone, which has a much smaller screen. Put the two together, and there you have it. Regardless, I missed the category, so again ... mea culpa. As to the comments themselves ...

... yes, had I seen this was the VINTAGE DRUMS category, your comments would not have been deleted. However, they were still put forth in full attack mode on the OP, and I would have asked you to tone that down a bit. There are MANY ways to get a point across and still not be snarky and condescending. You have been a member here for 8 years ... I have been here for 17 years. Let's just say I have a very good idea of what constitutes snarky and condescending, as I have seen PLENTY in that amount of time. This is one of those cases where you and a I agree! ... to gently disagree. Duly noted.

I am going to CLOSE this thread now as I think the depths have indeed been plumbed on this issue. I also have no doubt the OP knows how our little vintage community feels about the "strip and part out" way of selling vintage drums. If one ASKS for input/advice, one has to be able to accept the "heat" that may come with it ... with that "heat" dispensed in as nice a way as possible of course. We now move on! BEST!!!
