Radio Back in the Day!

As a kid growing up in the sixties, music was a great influence in my life. We had a small country station where I grew up in Welland, Ontario, but that just didn't cut it for a young rocker! Luckily, I could listen to the big rockin' sounds of WKBW broadcast from Buffalo, New York! The D.J.'s were fantastic! Tommy Shannon! Danny Neaverth, Joey Reynolds! Brother Shane! It was non-stop Beatles, Stones, Kinks, D.C. Five, Animals and even some Elvis thrown in! Without that radio station, my life would have been totally different. What a phenomenal influence it was! Do any of you guys feel the same about your favourite station? Does anyone remember WKBW?

KRLA for AM radio! KKDJ and, eventually, KRTH 101 on FM. One of the KRTH DJs was Charlie Tuna. I have a picture with Charlie, in front of the Queen Mary, that I'll post when I get home. Good times in the 60's!

KOMA Oklahoma City.....We used to be able tp pick it up at certain times of day and night in my little town in the Black Hills. I can still sing the jingle.

Also, we finally got a local radio station (KKLS) that played all the current hits of the time...even some of those 10 minute long Yes tunes!

WDVE in Pittsburgh used to broadcast live local concerts like Kansas,Gino Vanelli and Seals and Croft.

KSAN in San Francisco used to have a dope report on Fridays.

KQAK used to broadcast live comedy shows with folks like Robin Williams.

Now it's NPR and sports talk.
