The wrap color was what made me buy them.... I really never looked them over till I got them home When I went the the sellers house to see them ,there was another guy there looking at them .He was really low balling the poor lady selling them and He was quite a rude arrogant ******* .....I simply asked her in front of him what she really needed for the Drums and I replied OK I'll take them.... Man you should have seen the other guys face...It was a Great Day !

Keep those out of sunlight. That wrap is really cool but is somewhat faded. Many of the parts that are clear were originally oyster colored. There were some clear parts too but you can see varying amounts of fade on some of the oyster parts. Sunlight will just make this continue to get worse.

It looks nice now, so to keep them that way, they need to be be kept out of the sun.

None of my kits ever go outside in the killer sunlight they only seem to venture outside only when I'm transporting or taking pictures of them.... The suns rays are killer to vintage drum finishes

They do look Star built all the way ...but I have never run into a Star kit that color I have seen a Pearl kit that color and actually have a distressed shell pack with an advanced fade but mine is pearl

Many of the MIJ kits, from Star, Pearl and Hoshino, would sometimes offer one-of-a-kind wraps as requested by the importing company. A big majority of importers were from the US and chose colors that might be "different" from the regular offerings to distinguish them. Both the wrap on the OP's set and the set I had are perfect examples. Of course, it makes it near impossible to find add-on drums, simply because these sets were offered as either 3pc or 4pc, with no option for a separate drum!

This is the distressed Pearl kit I mentioned having

the fading is so advanced the wood can be seen under the lighter areas of the wrap

The tiger's eye Zim Gar snare by Sakae came with them.

The Star built subject kit reposted here has if not same a similar wrap

and the wood shell is visible through the lighter portions of the pattern on it as well

I think you you hit the nail right on the head ...these look identical funny though only your bass drum is badly faded all my shells seem to have equal fading throughout
