This may be an extreme option...but, there are several restoration people on YouTube who do all kinds of incredible restorations on old toys, machines, etc. It might be possible to contact one or two of them to see if they can help or at least point you in a better direction for getting something done on a small scale.

I know there are people who can take an object and make a 3D printed copy of it and then take that and use it for making a mold...and then using that mold to cast an entirely new object.

Like I say...it's probably going to an extreme...but, hey, who knows?

Funny you should mention that. As a product designer for Whirlpool....that is actually up my alley, and not as far fetched as it may seem. After talking it over with my friend a bit more...he is quite on board with getting the original lugs fixed if possible.

If not...then we explore other options.

Those lugs were only made for a brief period of time. The later ones that accept screws, like most lugs, are like hens teeth to find them. Your drum is a late 1953/early 1954 era drum. Please don't get frustrated and drill the lug holes to accept a modern new lug.

Not certain if I mentioned it earlier or not, but I gave this drum to my friend that really isn't even a drummer. I am slowly convincing him to fix it up as best we can and leave it factory original.

He was more looking for something to put his own touches to. I have a Radio King that I bought as a shell, got new hardware, etc...refinished it because it was trashed...and really just made a nice player out of it. When I got this Rogers piece...I had intentions of doing the same but it was too original, and really just needed the lugs fixed.

Long story short I gave this one to my buddy because he also likes to do the same thing to pieces that are too far gone. Neither of us had any idea it was anything that someone would want, or better yet care about. After talking a little more with him about it, he is more of the mindset of get it cleaned up and fixed, enjoy as it originally was....and find a different vintage wood shell to go crazy with. I will keep the thread updated with information...hopefully I can get a hold of someone to fix the lugs. Thanks!

Not trying to let a good thread die here...I sent a FB message back in February to no response. So today (literally 5 minutes ago) I called Brian. Nice fella. He did say that the one that is completely broken is garbage so I will hang on to that. He said he probably has a replacement laying around...I hope so.

He also said that he has to move his shop, so he asked if I could get back in touch with him mid summer. So...I will be waiting a few months.
