60's era Ludwig flat based snare stand question

Loading...

Hey all,

I have one of these that I bought on Ebay to use with my 15" Pearl Philharmonic. The only lightweight stand I've found that extends big enough.

No issues, really, except that it's missing the small conical spring that goes over the basket carriage bolt. It's hard to keep that thumb screw tight without the spring.

Does anyone have a spare they can let go? I'm happy to pay for it and shipping.

Thanks,

Rob

You ought to be able to find a suitable replacement at any good hardware store. Perhaps not conical but any compression spring that will fit will provide the needed tension to keep the bolt tight. Probably would be a $1 item for a small spring like that.

The mom and pop hardware stores were my go-to destinations for most "widgets" that needed to be repaired or replaced when I was gigging throughout the Midwest states in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. There were a couple occasions that come to mind when traveling through the rural parts of Wisconsin when a spring or a nut or a bolt was located in little hardware stores to repair a bass drum pedal, tom holder, or hi-hat stand. The hardware stores and/or the giant home centers can still be your "widget" suppliers at a fraction of the cost of a music store or online seller.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
