Post pictures and more details, Gretsch serial numbers are worthless.

Pictures would be very helpful, but the statement about Gretsch serial number being TOTALLY useless is somewhat false. Check out the link to Gretsch's take on the subject, especially about the round badge and their take on serial numbers....

Welcome Please post some pix so we get an idea of what you have. Finish and condition are just as important as config when we are talking about vintage drums.

I'm glad that they've added that information, thanks for pointing that out. Not less than a couple of years ago they were completely clueless, I know because I emailed them several times, and every answer was fires destroyed all records. I do find it curious however that the timeline says courtesy of classicdrummer.com. Gretsch can't even do its own research? There do seem to be a few helpful points, like you say especially the round badge era, but sill, dating Gretsch is much easier bassed on badge, finish, hardware, etc.

Okay I will try and get some pic's when I visit later to check out the kit.

It is to my eyes a beauty, dark-walnut finish and show-room condition.

I'm pretty sure the people at Gretsch could care less about old serial #s. Those are drums that have already been sold. Their main interest is selling new drums. People with vintage drums are not real good potential customers for new drums.
