Slingerland 14x14 Green Sparkle

Loading...

If anyone has been trying to locate a Slingerland 14x14 in green sparkle, The Starving Musician has one. However, you have to buy a kit for $1299. Oddly, the other sizes are 22, 12, 13. Might be easier to find a 16 to add in than it is to find a 14.

If you sold off the other three you probably would have your 14 for short $$. The 14 does not appear to be quite the same green sparkle wrap so it may not have been with the others earlier on.

The floor tom and BD seem to match. May just be the lighting, but the two mounted toms appear to have a slightly different green sparkle wrap. The same store also has this 60's 12, 14, 20 in Red Satin Flame:

I inquired about the satin flame set. I couldn't get a response. It may be one of those places you just have push the button and hope for the best or go there. But I didn't want the snare drum (thought at a lower price I might have just pushed the button.

I was interested because I had sold it's Leedy sister and number or years back when I was moving and thought it would be nice to get something close.

I think that I asked you before if that ten-lug bass drum was a 14x20. If it was/is a 20" ten-lug bass drum, that was once my drum set. I don't have seller's remorse even though I wish that I still owned those drums.

Good call Dan. The snare drum is not part of the original set.

That's the one, if you sent it to the Farm from which I got it. I had a sales advert featuring Frankie Capp with the 20-lug bass - See attached. I do have the seller's remorse, but I didn't have a good option at the time.

Yes, different badge by the look of it - 70's maybe. Do you know if the toms would have badges? The Leedy set had badges on all the drums. The snare came from the UK separately. I saw it on line and contacted the guy and he sold it to me and shipped it over.

Dan.....That Red satin Flame set sounded perfect to me. I'm trying to remember what I traded for with Bobby at the Drum Farm. He and I have had several transactions over the years. Most of the transactions have been trades of drums. I hope that he and his business are doing OK during this pandemic. Of course, as i understand it, he never had much walk-in business--mostly online or by phone.

Dan, based on what can be seen in the single photo I'd say the Red Satin drums are '64 - '65, so no badges on the toms would be correct. Looks like the Modern Jazz outfit. Snare is indeed later and the wrong model for that kit.

The "wrong" model snare according to catalog-correct obsession. However, ANY snare drum that the player prefers is the "right" snare drum for any drum set. I think that a survey of 100 drummers would show that a relatively small percentage of drummers use the catalog-listed snare drum with their main drum set.
