Did Camco drums ever not have vent holes?

And therefore no badges?

Has anyone ever seen one made like that? Maybe special order?

I've never seen one, but if it was a special order, there would probably be enough Camco idiosyncrasies to identify it as such.

Are you sure you have Camco and not George Way drums? I think George Way drums always had badges but with no badges how do you know which one you have?

I have an Oak Lawn WMP tuxedo 12 14 20 kit with a matching snare - the snare has no badge, but does have the key holder, which I suppose suffices as a vent. But I believe this is seen as a factory oops instead of a regular issue. There are plenty of reports of similar errors on this era of snares.

Not a problem in any event. Easier to add than to delete. Plenty of badges on eBay. Falling Do

Thanks for the input folks! And yes, I saw those badges on reverb - very cool. I'm going to order some now. I wonder - are the grommets that hold them in usually brass? The Camcos I have now look to have brass ones. Anyway, they look like real Camcos to me - LA era. Check out the pics. The seller I got them from said they came with other Camcos and were declared as such. No mufflers factory installed but I have an older Oaklawn tom that didn't come with a muffler - so that doesn't bug me. There are some holes from where they had Ludwig mounts installed (that look factory) but I'm thinking of possibly recovering them to match my Oaklawn set I have now. I don't know - if they sound good I might just leave them as is - ha.

Those are definitely Camco shells which look like later LA's due to number on shell. Real nice. Maybe they were just not drilled yet and were let go when they closed up shop or maybe a worker's drum.

I would leave them natural myself but of course you can do what you want with them, they are yours of course. DOH

Thanks for the pics BTW

I'm going to say these were LA Camcos. I have heard that they would put serial numbers on the inside. Also, to me, the heads of the slotted screws have a more flatter profile that the Oaklawn era. What I find curious is that on the inside of the shell, there seems to be one pristine screw/washer and one aged screw/washer for each lug. (?)

These had to have been some sort of special order to come without badges.

Thanks for the replys! I bought badges for them but now I am second guessing if I should just leave them without. It's definitely unique not having vents. Hmm...
