I have a very good friend who is clearing out his inventory and has offered me this (among other things). I have never seen a Chrome on Wood Dynasonic. He says he special ordered it in the early '70's. I don't recall Rogers making COW anything really. Has anybody seen such an animal? (12x15 btw)

Back in the day I would say yes.

Just wonder if they made them with a gut snare option.

Looking at your picts ,it does appear to be gut.

Actually, he's including a nylon and a gut frame as an enticement.

I've just never heard of a COW Dyna.

Everybody was doing COW marching drums back then,(Slingerland,Ludwig)so it wouldn't surprise me.

The subject of COW came up recently. Someone who after many years found a nearly identical set of Slingerland COWs to the one they had back in the late 60's/early 70's.

I recall the first time I was fooled by COW. I bought a Ludwig Rocker set not realizing at first the snare was not metal. And actually, I'm not sure if the material on the snare was COW or chrome plastic over wood. When I realized there was a wood shell under the chrome I thought, "I've been cheated."

But that Rogers marching snare looks to be the real thing. Plus, that would probably not have been anyone's choice as a re-wrap. Can you imagine working with that stuff??? Check to see if you find any rust. If there is some rust in the wrap, it may well be the real deal.

That was my first thought also. Having carried many marching drums in the mid 70's. think its a great drum there.
