Chicago Drum Show 2021

Anyone planning on going?

I'm proud to say that I will be an exhibitor this year! If you attend, please stop booth #77 and say hello! It will be named Bob Sharp and AT Drums (me). I am splitting a booth with my friend and longtime show veteran Bob Sharp (some of you may know him). The link below hasn't been updated yet to show our names/location, but I talked to Rob Cook on Friday and our space is confirmed. I'm hoping he'll update the site soon.

I'll have a Keystone Ludwig Kit, a Rogers Skyline Kit (Cleveland Tags), a Slingerland Modern Solo Kit, some other various kits, LOTS of vintage Ludwig hardware, pro quality cymbals and many fibre trap cases. I will price all my items reasonably (especially considering show prices).

I know BEC will be there (I'll be sure to stop by and drool....I mean say hi and check out all your stuff!). Please say hello to BEC and myself (and any other VDF members who will be lurking about) if you attend.

Just an FYI, according to Rob Cook (long time show organizer), there will be no clinics this year and masks will be encouraged but not required. There is no capacity limit at the show this year at the venue.

Hope to see you there!

Hi V!

I hope that this years show will attract a lot of buyers! Living in SoCal, it's a long drive for me to attend! Wishing you a fun time and hope you sell some of your vintage drums, too!

Apparently some people are already announcing my presence at the Chicago Show!

I'll be there if:

1. Illinois covid rates drop and the State Of Illinois allows more than 25-50 customers in at a time? At present time there are restrictions.

2. No variants are raging. (Michigan has 500 covid cases of people infected after both vaccine shots!!!)

Irrespective of our drum sickness, BEC is expressing rational and sensible thinking about this drum show or any social gathering at this stage of the pandemic.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Sorry BEC, I guess that's what happens when you assume!

According to the website, the event will not have restrictions as far as capacity goes. I'll definitely be wearing a mask at all times. Here's the exact verbiage (upper left hand corner of the page):

"We have been advised that normal occupancy of the venue has not been reduced.. Masks will not be mandatory but are suggested, as is social distancing".

Assuming things don't flare up again I'm planning to go. It's only about 90 minutes from where I live so I can decide yea or nay right up to the morning of the show.

Getting my shot the day after tomorrow so that makes me less worried, but these mutant strains have to be considered.

Masks would be a good idea, things are climbing around these parts, although not like Michigan.

V - Good luck with the show, hope your van travels back home much lighter . . unless of course your like me and when you sell one you then buy two. Laughing H

Agree with BEC. We all still need to be diligent with masks and social distancing. Take a look at what is happening right across our northern borders in Canada.

I am actually surprised that the show is not mandating masks given the variant and that fact that people are still unvaccinated.

In any event, good luck to all the sellers and hopefully the buyers that are able to make it this year. I'll be seeing you next year.

No Guru - I just love collecting & learning about vintage drums!

Some of my favorites from the kits in the collection
58 WFL New Yorker Blue Sparkle
67 Ludwig Hollywood Red Psychedelic
69 Ludwig Standard Red Ruby Strata
70's Ludwig BOP "Ringo" Kit

A few of my favorite snares
20's Leedy Black Elite
51 Leedy & Ludwig Knob Tension
58 WFL Buddy Rich Classic Blue Sparkle
63 Walberg & Auge Sea Blue Agave Green Pearl

The quote above is wishful thinking.....

KO, You live in illinois, but maybe the news hasn't arrived in your backwater yet, but things have already flared up and restrictions are still in place. Like you, I'm hoping for the best, but so far.........
