Rogers Dynasonic Black Onyx Variations

Loading...

Has anyone else noticed that the new Rogers Dynasonic comes in two variants of a black onyx wrap?

See attached photo of one finish in the foreground and one in the background. The foreground looks like the black onyx Precision carries and Rogers seems to be calling it gray onyx. Not sure about the other one, but I would be interested to know if anyone else knows who might be the supplier for the one in the background.

The wrap on the drum in the foreground appears to be aged/yellowed while the one in the background appears to be brighter and not aged. Could the wraps be from different makers? Could the colors vary from one batch to the next from the same supplier? Could the difference in color in the picture be due to lighting in the foreground differing from the lighting in the background?

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Those are three new drums in the picture. I think there's two differing suppliers of the onyx finish. Might be the version Precision offers and maybe the one Jammin' Sam offers?

Another two attached.

Hi Dan!

My guess is that they are two different wraps. As you noted, the more "silver" wrap is offered by Sam and is called "Silver & Black Onyx Pearl. Sam also offers the more traditional version called "Vintage Black Onyx Pearl" and is also probably the same shade being sold by Precision. Although, looking at the one offered by Precision, it does look to be more of a "silvery" finish, too.
