If you are easily amused by criminals I sure hope that you don't vote for them. Interpret that as you wish.

Haha. Ya... is I hear you.

No sense encouraging them...

But it's so darn tempting!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

The buyer did get back to me to say a cheque is good. He wanted my address so he could arrange for pickup. I answered with this:

"Okay great!

Thanks.

That's $600cdn.

eTransfer from your bank.

If you agree to this I will send you my email address.

After the money is in my account I will text you my address where to pick up the drums."

Waiting for a reply

Just got a reply.

He's having trouble with his etransfer and wants to send me a certified cheque. I guess that will be good as long as it clears... right?

The Certified Check won't clear...guaranteed. Our local CL organization has warned of this scam.

Your bank will accept it for deposit, but some time after that, you'll find out that it was a phony check.

Be careful with any "out of town" buyers on CL.

I thought so. I could accept the certified cheque and ask my bank to contact the buyer's bank and then when it is determined to be fake at least the banks will know.

There's no way I'd be letting my drums go out the door without having my bank check this out first.

In the past I've sold stuff via Western Union... no problems. I've also used eTransfer (I like it the best... you get the money instantly and there's no going back :) )

PayPal is not bad but there's too many rules for me. But I do understand that.

I like when the buyer shows up at your door with cash. But these days that's having potential problems with counterfeit money. We had a bunch of $50 American counterfeit bills passed off here in BC Canada a year or so ago. So it's still being done.
