Ludwig super sensitive brass shell info needed

Can anyone give me infor on this drum? I believe it may have been a black beauty that was chromed. It used clips on the rims but the rims were replaced with modern triple flange. There is no badge. How old is this? Any other info?

The tone control is 1965-68.

If the shell is brass it could be as old as late 1920's.

The snare throw off appears to be late 1920's-30's, but the hoops look same age as the tone control, mid 1960's.

I agree with BEC. The shell looks like it has the folded over weld on the bearing edge lip,

The strainer is pre-1935. The snare guards are the early 60's era or reproductions. I'm not sure when these drums came with internal mufflers (or placement), but if I believe it was in the 30's and they should have 3 horizontal holes for the era, so if that isn't the case then the shell may have been drilled for the 60's style.

The snare side hoop looks too thick on the gate lip to be Ludwig and it is missing that distinctive "bump-out" that was common in the 60's.

I don't know a lot about Ludwig lore. But, I think that I'll read all about that drum in this publication.

At least somebody here is not butt-hurt when a humorous comment about their beloved and sacred Ludwigs is offered. Thanks for having a sense of humor, Delorso. As an aside, boogered-up (even for improvement) drums, guitars, cars, and other things are often referred to as Frankensteins.
