As l mentioned before - a pic of shell interiors would be a huge help
First post! slingerland question...
.....and those badges. Thanks.
I took off the skin on the floor tom. I have never removed a skin until today! What's weird is when I took it off, the inside smelled like a new car smell!! Super clean smelling?? Here are more photos of some hardware, badges and inside of drum. Now please let me know what I have. I hope you saw the measurements i posted earlier...I believe they are oversized drums??? Is that good or bad??

I'll take a stab and say a 1979 Time Machine. The depths of the toms are different... did you measure the shells only??..... or include the rims when you measured the depth ??
Anyway, the serial number points to 1979, as do the sizes, if I take into account a mis-measurement of depth.
Here's a link to the catalog scan.
Darn it, which doesn't seem to be working,.... so go to the top right of this page, click on Drum Guide, click on Slingerland, click on drum sets-catalog pages, and look at the catalogs for 1979.
Your drums are there, I believe.
Alright, I fixed the link........
Or a 1977 Super Rock with optional 5-ply shells. The serial numbers might fit into that year.
Here's a link........... ( here we go again )

I BELIEVE YOU ARE RIGHT!!! Good job!! I did measure out on the edge so this should be the set. I was 15 years old....now I remember my dad saying here is your car!! LOL...I guess they cost a pretty penny back then?? Is this set any goo as a collectible...is it at all a desirable set since it has never been used by anyone for 30 years and has all original skins?? Just curious??
I think you got it. Super Setomatic came out in 76 and that kit was offered shortly after. Putting it together looks at about 78 or 79. Great job Kev!
As far as the kit...nice kit. Those five ply kits sound nice with a bit of loud boom that is not present in the thinner shells. I will say that the 3 ply kits are a bit more desirable, but these are extremely fine drums. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Nice drums. Considering that 3 ply kits don't cost much compared to some other American drums, these will be close to the value of the 3 ply kits. I would check the value of some 3 ply kits in a close config and wrap. That would be very close to what you should expect if you sell the kit. Nice nice nice. Excellent live kit. Seriously.

Just when I thought I had it...One other question kevin or MCJNIC...if it is the timemachine...it had an option of the 3ply at no charge?? How would I know if I have the 3ply or 5 ply??

I think the timemachine is it...I can see what holds the 2 toms together in the timemachine looks exact to mine. Not like the Super Rock!!
Thanks!!
