My Star kit will be "on display" in Rhythm Magazine's "Vintage Vault" feature, courtesy of the great Geoff Nicholls (author of many a fine vintage drum book) and Simon John's Vintage Drum Show (Coventry, UK, where it was photographed last October). The drums are a 1972 silky blue kit (22"x14" / 13"x9" / 16"x16"), along with a 1973 Kingbeat snare (14"x5") formerly owned by Neo, of this forum.I believe the the next edition of the magazine (recently relaunched) should be on sale in the next week or so. Needless to say, I am almost priapic with excitement.

Nice, but do we have to buy the magazine to see pics of your kit?Cool Dude

You could do!

The new magazine is pretty good - excellent feature on Ginger Baker in the current issue, and the Vintage section has always been great

Hopefully after publication I might be able to get the OK to post some of their (high quality) pics here, taken by the excellent James Cumpsty.

Failing that, I do have some (poorer quality) pics of my own that I can try and figure out how to post here.

Thank you, that blue one is Modern jazz kit, by Pearl. I have not seen another one.

I must say, while I;m not a big fan of the MIJ sets, that blue is a really, really nice color.

UPDATE

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get permission to post the (excellent) pics of my kit, as featured in the last edition of Rhythm magazine.

Copywrite issues, apparently!

My kit does feature alongside many more lovely Star drums on Ralf's newly updated (and still excellent) website.

Thanks for the update.

I'm going to have to check out Ralf's site, but it doesn't seem to work on my mobile.

Newly acquired Coronet sweetness. As a big fan of vintage US drums, i also appreciate anything with MOJO...from overseas.

Here’s a Mirage brand kit I’ve cleaned up, locally purchased cheap.
