Does anyone know if there’s a reproduction of a Slingerland Radio King 3 point strainer available anywhere?
Does this one work?
Thanks.

That is actually almost an exact repro of the 30s Ludwig and Ludwig three point strainer. The hole spacing of the top two ears is the same as the Slingerland but the spacing from the top to the lower ear is longer.
Edit: corrected from Leedy to Ludwig and Ludwig

Like thin shell says, this is the closest you're going to find in a repro. I'm wondering if the top/bottom spacing had anything to do with legal issues, otherwise, why not make it the same spacing?

It matches the Ludwig and Ludwig strainer that is was copied from. This strainer was originally reproduced by a company who used to sell drum parts. That company went under and then the strainer became available through Gibraltar. They probably bought the tooling from the person who had them made originally. I think the original person mistook the Ludwig and Ludwig three point for the Slingerland three point and the rest is history. The market for the Ludwig and Ludwig three point is tiny in comparison to the Slingerland three point so it is puzzling why they went that route.
Edit: changed Leedy to Ludwig and Ludwig
There is a discussion on DFO about this strainer and I outlined a simple adapter plate that would allow you to mount it with all three screws. Otherwise you can just use the top two mounting screws and put a thin piece of rubber under the lower ear to prevent vibration and chafing of the finish.

More discussion and pictures of the Ludwig and Ludwig that this strainer was copied from.
It was a Ludwig and Ludwig design. There was also a version of the same basic design that had snare bridged added to the strainer used on the Leedy snares.
This is all very helpful. Thanks for the info and the link.
Hey thin shell!
Thanks for all the great information on the Gibraltar 3-pt strainer!
