Anyone know anythng about this drum company? My friend found a 28" bass drum he wants to restore. He's wondering what heads to put on it. Looks like it might have been a marching band drum. Really cool label but I can't get my photos uploaded.
Oliver Ditson Co. Boston New York
I've got a Ditson Snare drum that was restored by Eames. I heard many years ago that George B. Stone (George Lawrence Stone's father) was a supplier for Ditson. I'm not sure if Ditson made their own drums or if they simply assembled them. Someone here should know for sure.

You need to resize the pics to make them smaller to fit the Forum's size restrictions...

I believe the largest picture size is approximately 1000x1000 pixels and around 140K. The typical picture from an iPhone is over 4x in pixel size and a huge file size. I get it that many of us don't know, or understand, how to use editing software to get the picture size VDF requires.
For myself, I use a Irfanview if I need to crop pictures and Caesium to scale the picture size and file size...without loosing picture quality.
A big issue with so many people is that they just want to point, shoot and upload. VDF's server capacity is small compared to, say DFO, and will be overloaded with huge picture file size! However, while DFO can accept just about any file size and pixel size, those pictures will post as only 600x450. That's just too small to show detail! DFO used to allow up to 1200x900, but changed the default picture size to half that. It's one thing that irks me about DFO!
I tend to post pictures here at VDF at around 1000x750 pixels, along with the appropriate file size. I do all this from my desktop computer and would never think to post from my tiny iPhone 6! However, that's just me. I know that today, everyone wants instant posting and picture uploads. I'm not quite sure that VDF will ever allow that.
I know that I've gone off on a rant here, but just wanted to share my thoughts. Thanks for reading!
