Is it possible for gretsch silver sealer to fade/evaporate on a vintage 1960s RB bass drum?

Fade is likely if the drum was used extensively without a front head or otherwise left out without any heads on it for lengthy periods of time. I think evaporation is unlikely.

This is my view as well. I've seen examples of early 60's shells with like-new sealer, simply due to the fact that the heads were left on and the drums not stored in high-humidity areas.
