So I just sold one of my Sling sets 6 piece from 1970. I got the exact same price as it was listed for in the catalog in 1970 . On the flip side, my buddy who bought in the same year (1970) a Hemi Road Runner paid $4800 for that car, he just told me he sold it for 80K. why is the vintage drum market so depressed. ? makes no sense.

You needed to buy a Gretsch or Camco 18, 12, 14 just a few years earlier to keep up with a Road Runner.
I remember the Road Runners very well, except the one I was close up to was equipped with a 383. The Hemi might have been a bit scary.
I think it might also be that a lot more people collect cars than drums.

The 383 was no slouch, either! ;)

When I was young, Dad always drove Corvettes....drag raced them too. Back in the 70's he bought a '66 with the 427,4 speed and factory side pipes. Think he gave 4k for it. Someone had waxed it and let the wax dry out all over it. Once we got that off the car was perfect. He later sold it and thought that he had made quite a nice lick on it. A few years ago a guy contacted him through DMV records and talked with Dad about his old car that the guy had just purchased. Told Dad he paid 250k for it and was happy!

well when commerce shuts down in near all 50 states
and stages are closed (where the drums live) the Highways not so much (where the cars roam)
Everyone has to drive a car, so everyone has a relationship with them in one way or another. Drums are a specialty item...and getting even more so now that everyone and their dog has an online band and drum "machines". I don't think many younger people even care about individual musicians like we used to do. Drums are going the way of powdered wigs, sword fighting, etc. They used to be an essential item for making music. Now not so much.
