Where did you see that the drums are covered in Naugahyde? If they are, what's under the Naugahyde?

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

the pic of the small tom certainly looks like naughahyde recover to me. But perhaps I'm wrong.

If I had been the buyer, I would make the investment of having a friendly drum shop or drum department at a music store convert all of the toms to double headed toms. The price for that entire lot is like buying the stands, and getting the drums and cymbals for free.

Then one day a big band guy is gonna have to tear down a Holiday or something and fill the holes to make up for it going bye-bye !

Those things make their own sound.

Definitely. It's not like that kit's some pristine museum piece. Never understood the appeal of single heads anyway.

Short notes and volume.

I feel you Dan. Every time I get to the end of a restoration project I vow it will be the last...but somehow projects keep finding me. Drum trolls must zap me with that Men In Black "Neuralizer" mind eraser thing in the middle of the night.

Stop stringing and tuning your instrument, make music now.
