vvverrry hard to tell from those photo's. from the looks of the inside of the one shell it could def be luan and most probably MIJ. Not sure about that wrap at all, not even sure if I like it at all, just looks a bit too much like gift paper.
Whatever it is, for 50 bucks its a great deal and bound to be good fun, make a nice players project kit. take some close ups of the shells and lugs when you get it.

[COLOR="DarkRed"]You posted thumbnails (so the pics don't expand when a viewer clicks on them). Try posting expandable pics using the 'manage attachments" button under the message window...and upload the pics directly from your computer.
It is hard to see...the lugs look sort of Apollo-esque, which would be older Japanese...but the shell interior of that bass drum is blonde-ish, indicating perhaps a layer of maple or birch and maybe a more recent drum than that (like 80's) ?
