The wrap arrived yesterday. It is somewhat lighter in color. But, I think the bongos wil look good with the drum set over to the left of my hi-hat. Pictures of the project will follow.

Can't wait to see the finished project

I just finished the bongo drum project. We are all in agreement that the Charcoal Diamond Pearl is not an exact match for the Slingerland/Leedy version of Black Diamond Pearl of my 1963 drum set. However, I think that it's a much closer match than the smaller pattern and darker BDP that's available. Here's a quick look at the bongos and the 9x13 tom from the drum set. They are more than close enough for me and for Rock n Roll.

That Shelly Manne is a beauty. I've always liked that snare drum. I had one in red satin flame pearl, along with the matching drum set. It's one of the few drum sets and snare drums I ever regretted selling to any degree. Usually they can come and go. But that one still seems to have been a mistaken sale. I got the set from Bobby at the Drum Farm and then was able to get the snare drum shipped-in from a guy who had it in London.

The bongos project looks like fun. I rather like the mixed satin flame kit too.

If the drums were 14x20-8x12-14x14 guess who traded the red set to Bobby.

here's my other Shelly Manne snare drum. The badge and the limited years the Pink Glass Glitter was offered make me think that the drum was made sometime from 1956-1959. There is no date inside the shell.

That would be the case. Do you recall that the bass was a special order with 20 lugs? Awesome kit and the snare drum matched perfectly when it arrived from across the pond. I really dig the brass hoops and the Leedy lugs. I wish I still had a picture of the entire setup.
