I bought another vintage marching snare on ebay :) This one is a Revere (listing says 13.5" x 11"), so I'm assuming it is a 13x9 shell. Will probably get it later this week. I know E.W. Kent made Revere but any additional info anyone has on this snare would be appreciated. I will probably convert it to dual tension so I can actually play it in a modern setting.

Very neat looking snare...Maybe a 14x10 shell? Can you post a pic of the throw when you receive it?
Will be a nice little project...
Cheers

Some before and after pics! The shell doesn't have reinforcement rings and is super thin. The hoops are warped but I think they will work. Sounds pretty good even though the snare beds are cut really deep. I like how it turned out :) I used white vinegar and canola oil to bring out the shine and it worked great!
Thumbs up!! Another save!!

So, do you think that it was originally a tom that was converted into a snare? The deep snare beds may be evidence of a conversion...Cheers
I'm pretty sure has always been a snare because there were no extra holes in the shell. The snare beds on some of these old marching snares were really deep...the calf skin heads contoured to the shell much easier than modern heads. That 30's Slingerland had deep beds as well. I got it tuned up and it sound good and was able to get the excessive snare buzz to go away.
It definitely has mojo!! Enjoy the drum!!
