Quarantine Jellybean

So, the past few months of work-from-home and only going out for necessary shopping is starting to make me antsy. I have several individual Slingerland drums I've bought on a whim (future projects I never started) and put back in the closet.

But tonight out of boredom, I decided to put together a Slingerland jellybean set.

The bass drum had arrived two months ago and I finally unpacked it last night. I had been told it was a late 1960s, but looking at it now, it's older. No S/N, lots of drilled holes (looks like a previous owner decided to install a Set-O-Matic). The rear bearing edges are good and in round, the front are fair and slightly out of round.

The seller included lugs and t-rods. Now it's time to find the other parts!

Here are the toms (early 70s, Niles badges, re-rings.) And oh yes, my "helper". He's good for dusting the interior, and for chasing packing material. He matches the color of the bass.

Now I need another color. Maybe a green sparkle snare drum?

Bass drum is no newer than '61, no older than '57.

Very interesting. The seller wasn't sure.

The seller included some VERY CLEAN lugs and T-rods. Unfortunately my local CG is closed completely, so I have to wait for heads to be shipped. I was able to find a Set-O-Matic on Reverb, so at least most of the holes will be covered.

If all the T-rods are like the one pictured (bell shaped collar) they are '62-'70. Good luck with project.

I'm guessing the lugs and t-rods are from a different drum. When I bought it from the seller, it was advertised without them. During negotiations, the seller offered them to me as well, so I bought them.

I'm guessing that Slingerland moved to a 10-lug bass drum about 62 or later? Because the seller sent me 20 lugs/t-rods and the drum only needs 16 ;)

Any Red, Green, Turquoise or orange sparkles would look great as a FT or snare to complete the kit.

Keep fixing them up...

I was actually planning on using the 14" purple as my "floor tom" but playing 1 up, 2 down will be cool, too. There's a 16" royal blue on Reverb with "make offer"...

Number of lugs on BD is based on drum diameter rather than year.

Basically:

8 lugs per side= 18" 20"

10 lugs per side = 22" 24"

Gotcha, thanks! So basically the seller grabbed the wrong bag of lugs :).
