Hello again from Corona Virus Shelter in Place CA, USA where the hobby continues at full speed ahead.
I hope all of you are staying safe and staying healthy. I got this drum at a Chicago Show approximately 7-8 years ago. I don’t think that I ever did an article/photos so here goes.
1929- SLINGERLAND 5 x 14 *OPAL PEARL PROFESSIONAL MODEL
*Slingerland used the term Opal Pearl but this finish looks exactly like L & L’s Peacock Pearl or Leedy’s Rainbow Pearl finishes.
THE SHELL: The Opal Pearl was in excellent-plus condition so only a normal cleaning and polishing was needed. This finish has the “glue grid” backing as can been seen on various Ludwig and Leedy drums of the era. The mahogany interior is very clean and the cloud badge is perfect.
THE HARDWARE: The all original nickel hardware was also in great shape and cleaned up and polished up nicely. The Snappi-Snares are clean, straight and tension well.
Of-the-era top and bottom calf heads rounded out this light restoration.
Enjoy!
