I'd have to disagree. There has been a SBP 70's hollywood in my area that can't even sell for $500. So, I'd say you could probably get around $450-$700.

These are 6 plys, right? If so, that makes them the same as my black cortex kit (size difference aside). Now of course, black is way more boring than this wrap, but I got my kit with an included 6.5" X 14" Supra for a mere $279.00 - But I was told it was an okay price here on the boards, not a great price. Why the big difference? Is it the wrap alone? Or the additional hardware?

Wouldn't a nice condition Supra in the 6.5" depth be worth around $200.00... which meant that I got the other 4 shells for around $79.00.

Don't mean to hijack, but I'm really confused - I thought I scored big time... did I or didn't I?

Thanks for indulging me :)

Surely the quote was intended for the Supra alone?

Heck yes you scored!!

Upon an even closer inspection, you are correct sir. The B&O badges and the barely perceptible (to my eyes anyhow) shadows cast by the re-rings threw me off.

My apologies for jumping in here. They are indeed 3 plys and that makes them worth more, as does the very nice wrap.

Would anyone care to speculate on what this kit was worth 5 years ago (the one pictured, not mine)?

I don't think the price/market value was much less 5 years ago than it is today...one can argue it may have been even been greater because 2004 was right in the middle of the Age of Conspicuous Consumption.

Now, just FYI...yes...your $279 for a 5-pc. 6-ply kit with snare included a few years ago WAS a steal

It was actually purchased about 6 months ago (or less).
