Zildjean Pitch Black Cymbals

More on the the topic, my comment had direct bearing on the sound itself. But you don't get that? Do you really think that coating a cymbal with lacquer doesn't affect the sound at all?

I think that I am open-minded enough to think that the people of Zildjian just might know a little more about cymbals than I do. If a cymbal were painted pink with a smattering of yellow roses scattered about for good measure, and it sounded great, I'd give it a try. Your previous comments had nothing to do the specific sound of a cymbal which was in some way coated. If you had explained your opinion a little more carefully, then perhaps I would have given your opinion more consideration. No. instead you were sarcastic in pointing out a spelling mistake (which it certainly was) and then on your second reply you simply attributed your belief to being of the "old school" and wondering why anyone would even consider such a thing. To each his own.

Well, I did tell you that I thought I was open-minded. You got me there. Fair and square.

Maybe I just too old school, but I don't know why anyone would want to buy a cymbal that's coated with lacquer.

Actually most of Zildjian's modern cymbals are clear coat lacquered from the factory to help prevent oxidation.

Only the older stuff wasn't(and maybe the classic releases)..

I know that. Just as with several such "inovations", Paiste did it first and then Zildjian followed. Zildjian has been playing follow the leader since the 1960's. Only they're supposed to be the leader.

The cymbal overwhelms the camera mic at times, but it's all I had to record.Zildjian Pitch Black ride - YouTube

I only liked the edge hit. The rest sounds like the ocean wash and the bell sounds like a triangle.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
