Oh No...Trixon Is Back From The Dead

Loading...

After reviewing images of all the kits on their site I noticed something unusual. Whereas most quality drum manufacturers tend use one, or perhaps two, proprietary lug designs that makes their products readily identifiable, Trixon seems to be using not one, or two, but instead several completely different lug designs. There doesn't seem to be any overall design elements which uniquely identify the sets. As a result, when viewing all the images I get the impression that the sets are from different manufacturers. Very strange.

Ok, they have my interest. I dig it. I love the bass drum and the angled BD mounted cymbal arm. Looks very cool to my eye. Not sure about the wrap though. What the heck is that? I'd have to see that up close.

Where will these be made? Germany? What kind of wood for the shells?

Have you read the descriptions of those drums?

You would think they were $2000 kits! Propriety this, propriety that, low mass, centrifugal something or other, Multi Point cylinder lug technology, Safety-Lok hi hat technology, yellow eastern birch wood shells, special blended glue and on and on, and then you see the kit is $339! What the heck?

Right, undoubtedly made in Indonesia or somewhere else in Asia. And lots of big words and marketing spin that ultimately means zilch. As I said, Trixon drums should have remained a distant memory.

According to this guy, this kit is a limited edition and limited run, so this doesn't look like a long term endeavor by Vox, or whoever is selling this.

..wow!!!

so many replies ...really encouraging to see so many point of views guys...

so...you have the original Trixon brand 1947-1971 approx and then due to the fires and also after the ireland move the original Trixon brand finished production..

In March/April 67 Trixon drumsets were offered for sale in the u.s.a (approx 1 1/2 years) and thats when the models were changed and some had the rare vox-t-rods and also a vox foil badge..

Some of those other Trixon's from approx 2007 are made in i believe in Wisconsin but they are not original Trixon's from the Germany line of production so hence different lugs etc and not alike at all...

...Then now we have the new 2020 Telstar....looks very nice, different lugs, different spec, no partition on the bass drum and the wrap isnt too good..but overall nice to see and a different option for drum lovers who want something non original and up to date... I do have some close up photos of the set from the Namm show if you would like to see them ??

I have added in some photos to show the vox design catalogue and also the trixon catalogue from the original sets...

...Thanks all and like i said loving all the comments...

I can't imagine that you could make any drums in Wisconsin, or anywhere in the USA, for these prices. There cheaper, by quite a bit actually, than the entry level Ludwig Breakbeats and other name brand entry level kits and they are all made in China.

My guess is the Wisconsin loction must just be the head office and maybe a music store, but a factory pumping out drums, I doubt it.
